The air reeked of rotten flesh and old blood.

After all, two dead corpses were laying on the ground. They were adult corspes, no doubt. They had been there for some several days, about two or three by now.

Broken stared on at the dead bodies quietly, since these bodies were her parents. She hadn't moved or made a single sound since they
were brutally murdered before her eyes, two days ago. Her brother, who sat across from her, didn't say anything at all since that happened
either. However, this was to change.
TDL, which was her brothers name/initials, stood up.
"Get up. We're leaving." He spoke in a booming voice that echoed through the empty and dead house.
Broken did not put up an argument and did as she was told and stood up. Besides, he was now the only one she could rely on and be
related to. TDL walked out through the front door and waited outside for his sister to follow. Grudgingly, she followed after him, but
before she did, she waved a silent goodbye to her parents.
This was the last time she saw them, even if they were dead.
The wind from outside was a bittersweet taste for Broken, knowing she'd never come back to this one place she once called home. Her ears perked at the variety of sounds coming from the small town she lived in. Some were the sounds of trains, others were the sounds of car horns, and much more.
For her brother, TDL, it seemed like nothing. He stood with an emotionless expression and began to walk, but first he put on the hood of his jacket over his head. From what it looked, Broken took to it that she was to mimic him and did the same with her hoodie.
The dried-up, dead grass crunched underneath her feet as she walked beside her older sibling. Smoke came out from exhaust pipes on far away buildings. The whole town seemed to continue on, as though death was not a problem at all.
The two siblings walked on, with TDL leading the way.
They found an abandoned shed, and decided to spend the night there since it was too late in the day anyway to continue on.
Broken stayed silent, and so did her brother. It appeared he didn't want to converse at all, and she didn't mind that.
As soon as morning came, TDL was already outside the shed and stared at the sunrise. Broken awoke with a yawn and as soon as she stepped out of their temporary shelter and looked at the sun, her sleepy eyes were fully open.
"Come on."
TDL spoke again, for the second time, but in a softer manner. It seemed as though he was trying to be nicer than before. His sister continued to walk behind him, as they passed a highway by going underneath the bridge which the cars zoomed to and fro on. TDL made she stayed beside him, as they passed drug dealers in the process of a deal and countless hobos, some who were warming themselves up by a fire made in a waste-basket. They all stared on at the young kids who passed by them, the only one showing possible fear being Broken. Whilist TDL kept a straight face and showed no fear.
Once they passed the bridge, they had found themselves a new path, and followed it. This lead them to a half-empty and yet half-full railway station. Mutliple trains were parked while freight wagons were parked on the rails. Some had there doors open, others were closed.  It was very old-fashioned looking, since it had no actual station for passengers and such classic looking old copper locomotives. Certain trains were covered with graffiti made by the local gangs in the city, while others were beat up with dents and paint peeling off everywhere. What's surprising is the fact that there was no conductor or railway inspector at all to be in sight.
TDL and Broken walked around some trains until they found a frieght wagon that was open, but was attached to a locomotive aswell. That way, they could get around easier. Plus, they wouldn't have to pay, and they didn't have any money on them either.
TDL lifted himself up and into the wagon to look around and examine it. It was pretty empty, except for a cat who was tending to her litter of kittens. She bristled her fur at the sight of TDL but was too weak to make an effort at hissing.
TDL helped lift his sister up and into the wagon aswell. He then walked over to a corner of the train and sat down. In the meantime, Broken walked over to the mother cat, who at first was a little weary of her being a possible harm to her children, until she came to a conclusion that she posed no harm. Broken pet the mother cat, who had a small litter of three kittens. She suddenly noticed a small, frozen, and stiff minature body that held a close resemblence to the kittens; it was the runt of the litter, and had unfortunetly died before Broken and TDL ever came here.
As soon as she noticed it, the thin main coon cat looked at Broken with a depressing, saddened look, but showed partial happiness. Broken pat the cat and got up. She walked over to some empty crates and a couple boxes and leaned on them, falling into sleep.
